Ainsley has been touring for the last four years with Atlantic Seaway, a captivating Educational music ensemble that seeks to demonstrate (musically) the migration and influence of traditional Scottish roots music and the music of other countries, most notably, North America, Canada (Nova Scotia), France (Brittany) and Spain (Asturias). This dynamic collective of exceptionally talented young musicians with expertise in their respective genres, present repertoire that explores and authenticates the common threads of these centuries – old connections, as well as evolution of newer celtic-inspired genres.
The Alliance for Scottish Roots Music’s educational approach to innovative music-making has not gone unnoticed and they recently received the 2012 Great Scot Award from the National Trust for Scotland for making significant contributions to the advancement of Scottish culture.
They have performed at some of the world’s most respected Celtic music festivals and events in the USA, Europe, and Scotland including, Celtic Connections Festival Scotland, UK. The Festival Interceltique De Lorient, Brittany, France, The American-Scottish Foundation’s Robert Burns Gala, Tartan Day at the British Consulate-General, Boston, and for the Breton Society of New York City.
